10 minutes of the King of France at the Bowery Ballroom.
30 minutes of the Silent League trying to get their 10-person band onstage and line-checked, helped amiably by a soundman of staggering ineptitude, followed by 20 minutes of the Silent League pulling off an against-all-odds great set.
Trying to get me and Sam into the Robot Ate Me show with my duplicate badges (one for Salon, one for the King of France...who I wasn't actually playing with, but, yeah, I had one from them anyway)...and failing.
I just didn't feel like facing the crowds, the insanity, the un-sound-checked, hurried sets, etc.
Saturday night, though, was a blast. House party/concert in Brooklyn, with Samamidon (which at this particular event consisted of Sam, me, Shahzad, Eyvind Kang, and Ryland), and then a crazy and awesome set from a somewhat drunk Robot Ate Me.
Provided we can figure out a way to get Sam into the building, he and I are going to be joining Ryland tonight for his Robot Ate Me set at the Knitting Factory as part of the Kill Rock Stars/5RC showcase, to plays some drums and accorgan, do some breakdancing (Sam and Ryland, not me), and just generally cause trouble.
It is so hot that this Italian blog used the word "nickdrakeiano" in describing us. It is so hot that such a word has ever been used.
Just got back from 2nd night in a row of playing the Mercury Lounge -- with Doveman last night (one of the quietest audiences I've ever encountered. Much appreciated!) and with Miho Hatori's band just now.
